Progressive Animal Husbandry Incentive Scheme in UP: Yogi Government Initiates Chief Minister’s Progressive Livestock Incentive Scheme under Nand Baba Dugdh Mission, Clarifies Incentive Amount, Eligibility, Criteria, Objectives, and Scope of the Scheme

The Yogi government has initiated the Chief Minister’s Progressive Livestock Incentive Scheme under the Nand Baba Dugdh Mission to increase the income of cowherds in Uttar Pradesh, make them self-reliant, and promote indigenous cow breeds. The government has also issued a government order outlining the incentive amount, eligibility criteria, standards, objectives, and scope of the scheme.

According to the government order, the scheme will be applicable to the first, second, and third lactations of indigenous cow breeds. Livestock owners will be incentivized for raising high-yielding and quality indigenous cow breeds (such as Gir, Sahiwal, Haryana, Gangatiri, and Tharparkar) to improve milk production and care for these breeds. Under this scheme, livestock owners will receive a cash incentive, and certificates of recognition will be awarded.

The Yogi government is providing an incentive amount ranging from ten to fifteen thousand rupees in two installments. For indigenous cow breeds like Sahiwal, Gir, and Tharparkar, which produce eight to twelve kilograms of milk per day, ten thousand rupees will be provided for those producing up to eight kilograms of milk per day and fifteen thousand rupees for those producing more than eight kilograms of milk per day. Haryana cows that produce six to ten kilograms of milk per day will receive ten thousand rupees for those producing up to six kilograms of milk per day and fifteen thousand rupees for those producing more than six kilograms of milk per day. Similarly, Gangatiri cows producing six to eight kilograms of milk per day will receive ten thousand rupees for those producing up to six kilograms of milk per day and fifteen thousand rupees for those producing more than six kilograms of milk per day.

The Chief Minister’s Progressive Livestock Incentive Scheme will be applicable to the first, second, and third lactations of indigenous cow breeds. Livestock owners can avail the benefit of this scheme only once during the entire lifetime of a cow. The scheme’s objective is to increase milk production in the state by incentivizing progressive livestock owners and ultimately boost their income. Additionally, it aims to enhance milk availability per capita in the state to contribute at the national level.

It’s important to note that the scheme is designed for individual beneficiaries, and firms, groups, or organizations are not eligible to apply for its benefits. Beneficiaries must submit their applications within 45 days from the cow’s date of calving.
