BKU Krantikari took responsibility for stalling PM Modi cavalcade : A day before Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi refused to receive and participate Prime Minister Narendra Modi excusing his two office members turned COVID positive and after the PM Modi’s cavalcade security breach news flashed in media like fire, Charanjit Singh Channi called a ‘Physical’ Press conference.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi cancelled his events in Punjab today after he was stuck on a flyover for around 20 minutes because of protesters, in a massive security breach that has triggered a clash between the centre and the Congress-ruled state just before elections.
Visuals showed the convoy stranded on the flyover with Special Protection Group (SPG) personnel ring-fencing the Prime Minister’s car.PM Modi returned to the airport in Bathinda because of the breach, the Home Ministry said in a statement blaming the Congress government.
This is pertinent to mention here that when the PM’s convoy reached a flyover, the road was blocked by protestors. Around 30 km from the memorial, and this particular flyover is just 10 Km away from Pakistan, when the PM’s convoy reached a flyover, the road was blocked by protestors.
“The PM was stuck on a flyover for 15-20 minutes. This was a major lapse in the security of PM,” said the Home Ministry.
PM Narendra Modi cancels his scheduled visit to Punjab’s Ferozepur to address a rally “due to some reasons”, Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya announced from the stage.
Calling it the “Single biggest lapse in the security of any Indian Prime Minister in recent years”, the ruling BJP accused the Congress of trying to harm the PM. The Congress, however, questioned how the PM’s security allowed the last-minute route change.
The Prime Minister landed in Bathinda earlier today for a visit to a National Martyrs Memorial at Hussainiwala.
He was to be flown by helicopter but due to rain and poor visibility, he waited for about 20 minutes for the weather to clear up.
When it didn’t, he decided to go by road to the spot two hours away.” He proceeded to travel by road after necessary confirmation of necessary security arrangements by the DGP Punjab Police,” the Home Ministry said.
On this event, Ex CM of Punjab Captain Amarinder Singh Tweeted, “Complete failure of law and order in Punjab, CM and HM Punjab, in particular. When you cannot provide smooth passage to the Prime Minister of the country and that too just 10km from the Pakistan border, you have no right to stay in office and should quit!”
“The PM’s schedule and travel plan were communicated well in advance to Punjab Government. As per procedure, they have to make necessary arrangements for logistics, security as well as keep a contingency plan ready.
Also in view of the contingency plan, Punjab Government has to deploy additional security to secure any movement by road, which was clearly not deployed. After this security lapse, it was decided to head back to Bathinda airport,” said the Home Ministry.
“There were no shortcomings in the security arrangements during the PM’s visit to Punjab today. The accusations of a security breach are baseless. The truth is that BJP’s rally was a flop show. When PM got to know this, he decided to return,” said Punjab minister Rajkumar Verka.
This, after BJP Chief JP Nadda, hit out at Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi in a series of tweets and accused him of refusing to take phone calls.
“It is sad that PM’s visit to launch development projects worth thousands of crores for Punjab was disrupted.. State Police was instructed to prevent people from attending the rally…CM Channi refused to get on the phone to either address the matter or solve it,” Nadda tweeted.
