Gujrat is Ready To Fight Against Omicron : The state health system is fully equipped to protect the citizens of Gujarat in view of the new variant of Omicron virus being seen in the world.
For this, complete preparations have been made in Gujarat as per the guideline of Central Government. As well as adequate quantity of medicines in the state, facilities including beds are available.
Therefore, citizens need not panic at all, just be vigilant and follow protocol, said Additional Chief Secretary of Health, Manoj Aggarwal.
He added that since the guidelines for testing international travelers regarding Omicron variants were announced by the WHO and the central government from December 1.
screening of passengers at Ahmedabad and Surat airports in the state has been carried out with a total screening of over 31,000 passengers across the country at risk and non-risk. Of these, RT-PCR tests have been performed on about 3,500 travelers from country at risk.
Covid Patients Are monitored by Health Department (Gujrat is Ready To Fight Against Omicron)
Corona positive patients are being treated in the home quarantine while all non-positive travelers are being monitored by the health department keeping them in home isolation.
Such pilgrims are being tested by taking samples every third and fifth day. In addition, surveillance operations are being carried out across the state to ensure that the transition does not increase.
70-75 Thousand Tests Conducted Daily (Gujrat is Ready To Fight Against Omicron)
He added that 70 to 75 thousand daily tests are being conducted in the state by increasing the testing facilities for Covid-19 and Omicron and it is planned to increase the capacity of these tests as per the requirement in the near future.
He said that complete preparations have been made by the state government under the
guidance of the Chief Minister. If the number of cases in the state increases, the state
government has made complete arrangements to deal with it.
Adequate supply of medicines, oxygen bed-ventilator facilities are available in the state and health workers have also been trained.
Arrangements will also be made by the State Government as per the treatment instructions received by WHO-ICMR regarding Omicron. He said that so far 23 cases of Omicron have been reported in Gujarat.
It has common mild symptoms like fever, cough, and cold. So no patient has to go to the hospital. But as a precaution, he is being treated in a hospital so that the infection does not spread to others.
Aggarwal added that the guidelines issued by the central government regarding Omicron are being strictly implemented in the state. So citizens need not panic at all. But Covid has appealed to them to cooperate by following the protocol only by being vigilant.
